This was such a positive and beautiful discussion of the Spirit World. I was very close to my mom and she passed away a year ago. I wondered where her soul is and what she is doing. I had a NDE a long time ago so I know that there is something to life after death. I enjoined this book and would recommend it to anyone who lost a love one or is facing an end of their physical body.

Here and Hereafter Barry Pain 9781406897777 Books Reviews

If, as a previous reviewer states, it is true that this author was a "scribe to the late Monsignor Robert Hugh Benson," then poor Monsignor Benson must be very disappointed in his former employee, who has repudiated every doctrine and principle for which Monsignor Benson stood.
The author of these wonderful books has utilized his talents to the utmost in describing life truly as it is on the Other Side. I am grateful that the books have been reprinted and will continue to be reprinted. There is much information that can be gleaned by the reader, and much good that can come from these writings. One must read these books to understand much about living life.
I read all Borgia's books and he spends a considerable amount of time on architecture and the falsities of religious leaders (as if most of us didn't know this by now). I had to skim on these parts after reading the first book, as it became redundant in many places.

He tries to help the reader see what it's like in the hereafter, but to simplify everything and tear down earth inhabitants as much as he's done is disturbing. Especially disturbed about his take on how we should allow the deceased to cut ties to earth by our not grieving for the loss of a loved one. Ouch! He implicates that ties are detrimental to the pure state of happiness on the other side. Double ouch! Maybe just knowing they are in a better place and where we will end up is enough said, but to tell us how to grieve or not grieve is shallow when we lose those we love from our lives here on earth. He states that mourning the loss of a loved one is completely selfish. Where did this crazy idea come from? Here is where Mnsgr Benson lived a celibate life with no deep attachments, so why wouldn't he say that? His heaven looked devoid of the feelings and actions that are expressed and shown in shared relationships that humans generally seem to want.
I was hoping for some of Pain's supernatural fiction, and little was to be found here....better off with 's "The Undying Thing".
excellent
Love it! I read it over and over! So informative, so comforting, so uplifting!
For several years now, I've been reading as many books on spiritual topics as I can find - I just can't seem to get enough. One of my interests is in the topic of the afterlife, and I love to read books about what the spirits on the "other side" have to say about where they are now.

Although there is no way to prove that what is written in these books is actually true, I believe that each of these types of books provide at least a grain of truth. Kind of like the blind trying to describe an elephant - What you "see" or believe as truth is directly related to "where you're standing" at that time.

This particular book describes many aspects of life on the other side, according to the spirits who communicate with Anthony Borgia. It goes into quite a lot of detail - even about things that would seem mundane to us. But, I think that's why I like this book - it doesn't just focus on the "big picture", it gets into the "nitty gritty" of life after death.

The picture painted is a beautiful one, and I can only hope that Heaven really is as it's described here. However, it's explained that not everyone goes to the same level, so we may not all experience the same things - it depends on where we're at spiritually, what our beliefs are (it appears that, to at least some extent, we get what we believe - at least at the beginning), and the type of life we lived here on earth.

I definitely "felt" a ring of truth while reading this book - something that does not happen with every book I read on this topic.

Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone interested in spirituality & ideas on the after-life - but, bring an open mind!
